Bilingual Web App for a Food Distribution Business

The Client

The client operates a global food distribution business based in Chile and is expanding into the US in support of its international campaigns. As part of a broader food supply-chain digital transformation strategy, the client is investing in modern infrastructure and technology to improve operational efficiency, inventory visibility, and food distribution management across multiple locations.

The main obstacle to international growth was monolingual IT support: before contacting INNERLUXES, the client used an application engineered in FoxPro and programmed purely in Spanish. To support its future outreach, the client engaged INNERLUXES to build an application that supports both Spanish and English.

Bridging the Language Barrier

To eliminate language barriers, INNERLUXES assigned a Spanish-speaking project manager to the engagement. Beyond meeting the language requirements, the team focused on redefining the workflow to maximize ease of use. From kickoff, INNERLUXES worked within the client's business hours — expediting time to market and operating as an extension of the client's internal structure — to introduce a bilingual application into a rapidly growing market.

Modernization and New Modules

INNERLUXES digested the client's legacy code, taking time to understand the database structure and documentation, then engineered a new SQL database to support the application and deliver a full system transformation — giving users frictionless access to the data they need. The team also improved the interface with a full-width layout, removing the pop-up-heavy experience of the legacy system.

Within the application, INNERLUXES optimized several existing modules and introduced additional ones reflecting both US and Chilean needs. The work was sequenced module by module — starting with the calendar and reception module, followed by the remaining modules with interim releases for client verification — before building a customer portal (where the client can view its details and create reception and dispatch requests) and completing the warehouse portal.
