Project Solution

INNERLUXES helped the Client reduce operational and administrative costs by 23% through a successful ERP implementation.

The Client is a buyer, seller, and appraiser of U.S. and foreign coins, old currency, precious-metal bullion, jewelry, luxury watches, fine wine and vintage liquor, sports memorabilia, military collectibles, and more. The Client engaged INNERLUXES to produce a new application for salespeople and managers across the company's locations — maintaining the core functionality of the previous application while adding new features to streamline the whole process.

The Approach

INNERLUXES started by understanding the requirements, existing application flow, and database schema, then proposed the Odoo ERP system to improve the application's overall user experience, performance, and utility. The engagement covered existing functionality from customer registration to creating transactions of different types, audit trail, reporting, and an admin module.

Using PostgreSQL to represent various predefined tables, INNERLUXES prepared the master catalog from Excel files and images, imported the data into Odoo, and identified categories such as scrap metal, bullion coins, commemorative coins, and collectible coins (organized as categ-1, categ-2, categ-3). INNERLUXES created tables in Odoo for these fields and linked them on the master-catalog page, and wrote a Python script to generate an Excel sheet compatible with the Odoo import feature to import and create products.

How It Works

There are six modules to navigate: Customer, Transactions, Reports, References, Change Logs, and Admin.

  • Customer: registration captures basic information — full name, contact details, username/password, DOB, gender, preferences (favorite products, categories), payment information, and marketing preferences. Users can edit, add, or delete customers; new customers get a new profile, and returning customers can be found via search with a filterable popup.
  • Transactions: buttons create, save, and delete records; send reviews via email, Google, or text; manually unlock records; and navigate with First/Next/Last. A "Quick Quote" button searches products and views prices, and completed transactions redirect to the associated purchase order for further action.
  • Inventory management: adjustments, cost/value adjustments, physical counts, and QC reports, plus detailed melting processes that address allocating funds from smelting transactions.
  • Admin: an exclusive tab handling flagged transactions, bank balances, and permissions.
  • References: instructional documents.
  • Change Logs: lets users manually track system modifications.

The Impact

  • Reduced operational and administrative costs by 23%.
  • Improved user experience, performance, and utility through the Odoo ERP.
  • Streamlined transaction processes and enhanced user efficiency across the six modules.
  • A categorized master catalog and imported product data for accurate inventory and pricing.
