The Client

The client is a FinTech-powered membership benefit organization offering broad shared services to Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs) and independent wealth advisors. It aggregates and integrates a full suite of FinTech products, services, and support to equip independent advisors — scaling the infrastructure and resources often found at the largest broker-dealer firms to accommodate small-to-medium-sized business owners. It alleviates the common stressors of selecting, implementing, and navigating a network of platforms and providers, and its peer-to-peer community gives advisors support and collaboration opportunities. The client focuses on two main concepts: holistic business enablement and advisor adoption.

The organization assembled a roster of products and solutions for its members, including a full-service broker-dealer, an independent corporate RIA, a custom TAMP solution (including alternatives), alternative investments, investment banking, retirement solutions, business services (HR, IT, payroll, compliance, and group health benefits), and membership equity.

An Exclusive FinTech Membership Platform

The platform's value stems from a robust toolbox of features that improve productivity for daily operations. The membership platform provides access to all the tools wealth advisors typically use through one single sign-on (SSO) portal, uniting functionality under a single software network. The mission was clear: give members access to everything they need to succeed with a single click.

INNERLUXES was tasked with creating a multi-level categorized hierarchy structure for the FinTech platform dashboard, along with a new design. The team implemented the SSO functionality and added the membership plan options, pricing, and the steps for additional product-subscription implementation.

Building the Roadmap

Before beginning, INNERLUXES administered QA testing and aggregated data related to targeted browsers, devices, and operating systems. This research was applied to a design document indicating the technological approach and associated deadlines.

For the application, INNERLUXES used React JS and Bootstrap to build the design and layout of the dashboard, login, and other pages. In the administrator panel, RIAs can manage business solutions, advisors, products, and membership plans. All web services were created in Node.js to give advisors access to back-end functionality such as registration, login, and membership. Through access-control-layer (ACL) functionality, admins can manage different user profile types to grant specific permissions. PostgreSQL was used to store the platform's data, and SSO was implemented with authorization services including OAuth, SAML, JWT, and Salesforce — in use with product partners. A registration web service, built with all required parameters, is used on the marketing website to enroll users onto the platform; it fetches product details by membership plan and displays them on the dashboard, letting users access only the products included in their subscribed plan while also subscribing to additional products by price.

The Impact

  • A single sign-on portal uniting every advisor tool under one software network and access point.
  • A multi-level categorized dashboard hierarchy with a new design.
  • An access-control layer for managing user profiles and granular permissions.
  • SSO implemented via OAuth, SAML, JWT, and Salesforce, in use with product partners.
  • Stripe-powered subscription payments and a marketing-site registration flow.
  • Greatly reduced time lost to cross-platform navigation for advisors.
