PBX System Implementation to Enable Wireless Telephony
Summary
A large European IT company needed to switch from a wired PBX to a digital one — avoiding the cost of running wires to every workplace — and wanted a powerful tool for internal and external multiuser voice/video conferencing and file sharing. As its infrastructure was built on Microsoft technology, INNERLUXES deployed a unified-communications solution on Microsoft Lync, delivering full IP telephony for 500 users with fault-tolerant redundancy and integration to external VoIP/SIP providers.

The Client is a large European IT company with customers in many countries around the world. With a sizable team of experts, the Client provides custom software development, mobile development, and IT services.
The Challenge
The Client faced the need to switch to a digital PBX to avoid extending wires to each workplace. In addition, it needed a powerful tool to organize internal and external multiuser voice/video conferences and to share files and documents.
The Solution
Since the whole infrastructure was based on Microsoft technology, INNERLUXES's experts in the Microsoft Office 365 collaboration platform offered Microsoft Lync as a solution.
During deployment, INNERLUXES integrated Lync with Cisco Unified Border Element to organize connections with external VoIP providers — one of which was Skype.
In the end, the Client got full-fledged IP telephony that allows users to make calls through various SIP providers.
Initially, the project was done on Lync 2010; it was later migrated to Lync 2013 to provide more functionality.
The Results
- INNERLUXES completed the Lync deployment for 500 users on time and within budget.
- All services were deployed with redundant fault tolerance to ensure continuous work.
- The Client was completely satisfied and entrusted INNERLUXES with a follow-on project to migrate to Lync 2013, as well as a subsequent migration to Office 365.
