Predictive Maintenance Solution for Restaurant Equipment Monitoring
Project Solution
INNERLUXES developed a predictive maintenance feature that reduces unexpected equipment failure by up to 90%, ensuring healthy equipment is available for any restaurant.
The Client — a restaurant equipment health monitoring company — engaged INNERLUXES to create a customer-facing dashboard for its restaurant monitoring applications. Recurring equipment failures in restaurant settings had been disrupting operations and leaving customers dissatisfied. INNERLUXES developed a solution that lets restaurants monitor the health of services such as internet, POS systems, and phones, cutting equipment failures by up to 90%.
The Approach
INNERLUXES implemented Grafana, a multi-platform analytics web application, to enable real-time monitoring and alerting of critical service failures, and integrated Slack for real-time alerting — transmitting service-failure specifics, timestamps, and alert severity levels to Slack. The monitoring and alerting capabilities were expanded to cover all elements of restaurant infrastructure, including terminals, kitchen display systems, payment systems, network infrastructure, Wi-Fi connectivity, and internet access.
INNERLUXES created intuitive, informative dashboards that visualize log data, helping identify root causes for operational issues and improving incident response through actionable insights. Particular attention was paid to data security and privacy: user access control and role management ensure only authorized personnel can access relevant information, protecting sensitive data while empowering the Client's team to perform in-depth analysis and improve operational efficiency.
How It Works
- Device-level dashboard: a granular view of individual devices and components in a restaurant for analyzing status and performance.
- Alerting mechanism: a robust mechanism that notifies relevant stakeholders about issues and incidents for quick, efficient resolution.
- Email integration: in addition to Slack, email alerts are sent to predefined addresses for those who prefer email notifications.
- Restaurant-to-device navigation: from the restaurant dashboard, users can navigate to the device dashboard for a specific device or service to examine issues.
Alert triggering points: major service outages (Red status) and minor service disruptions (Yellow status) at the global dashboard level, individual device/service failures at the device level, and custom threshold breaches for critical parameters such as network or device temperature. User-specific alerts are tailored to specific users or groups based on their roles, delivered via Slack or email according to preference.
A Data-Driven Approach to Restaurant Management
The real-time restaurant monitoring and alerting system features interconnected dashboards, a comprehensive alerting mechanism, and customizable alerting points — providing a user-friendly, effective means of monitoring and addressing service disruptions, ultimately improving restaurant operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
