Business-Oriented Financial Intranet to Increase Employee Productivity
Summary
A financial advisory and investment management firm wanted a modern, business-oriented intranet on its existing SharePoint Online subscription — with custom web parts, special attention to design, and no visible references to SharePoint. INNERLUXES delivered an attractive intranet with a unique look and feel and a set of custom web parts that make information and contacts easy to find, improving user adoption and supporting the company's business activities.
About the Client
The Client is a European company that offers financial advisory and investment management services.
The Challenge
The company already had a subscription to SharePoint Online and wanted to implement a business-oriented intranet on this platform with several custom web parts. The Client required special attention to the solution's design, so the intranet was to have a modern look and feel — and wanted all references to SharePoint removed from the intranet.
The Solution
INNERLUXES started the project by developing layouts of the master page and the home page of the intranet. In line with the Client's requirements, the team removed all references to the SharePoint platform (Office 365, Share, Follow, and other icons) by hiding the relevant links.
INNERLUXES developed web parts to give users quick and easy access to key information:
- Contacts. This web part lists the most popular contacts and enables searching through them, as well as filtering by various criteria (a user's subordinate employees, colleagues, etc.) and alphabetical sorting. Clicking a contact redirects the user to the contact's Delve page with more details about the employee, including their recently created or modified documents.
- Events. This web part displays upcoming personalized events and synchronizes them with the user's calendar.
- Business information. This web part displays personalized financial information related to an employee's work, such as funds and assets under management, pulled from SharePoint lists.
- News. This web part opens news and comments on a separate page.
- External sources. Two navigation web parts provide links to external sources and the most popular documents.
INNERLUXES also created a knowledge base that contained financial forms, onboarding guidelines, and more.
The Results
- The Client got an attractive, business-oriented financial intranet with a unique feel.
- Equipped with the custom web parts, the intranet is convenient to use, which improves user adoption and decreases the time spent searching for the required information or contacts.
- The intranet offers effective support of the company's business activities.
