How to Get the Add-In
Office Compass is available directly from the Office Store — no custom deployment pipeline required. Search for Office Compass and follow the standard add-in installation flow for SharePoint or SharePoint Online.
Step 1 — Open the Office Store
- Navigate to your SharePoint site.
- Go to Site Contents → Add an App.
- Click “SharePoint Store.”
- Search for Office Compass.
Step 2 — Add to Your Site
- Click Add It on the Office Compass listing.
- Trust the add-in when prompted.
- Confirm permissions for your site.
- The add-in is now installed and ready.
Step 3 — Start Locating People
- Every employee sets their floor and room.
- Drag the red pin to exact desk position.
- Location is live instantly for the whole team.

How to Configure the Add-In
Office Compass runs as a client web part inside your SharePoint pages. Setup is straightforward — no complex infrastructure needed. Most teams are up and running the same day.
1. Add office addresses
Open the Office Addresses list in your SharePoint site and enter each office location your organization uses. Include country, city, and street address for each location.
2. Upload floor plans
Upload your floor plan images (PNG or JPG) to the relevant Picture library. Use clear, accurate floor plan images for the best employee experience when pinning locations.
3. Add floor descriptions
Populate the Maps list with floor descriptions — floor number, building name, address, and the corresponding floor plan image. Repeat for every floor you want to map.
4. Add the web part
Edit your chosen SharePoint page, insert the Office Compass client web part from the web part gallery, configure the properties if needed, and publish the page.
5. Test with your team
Have a few employees set their locations first to verify the floor plans display correctly, the pin placement is accurate, and the saved locations appear for other users.
6. Roll out company-wide
Share the page link with your whole organization. Send a short “how to set your location” note — it takes under a minute and the map is live for everyone immediately.

How to Use Office Compass
Once the add-in is live on your SharePoint page, setting your location takes under a minute. Here’s exactly what each employee does.
Click Edit
Open the SharePoint page where Office Compass is installed and hit the Edit button to switch into Edit mode.
Choose Your Location
Select your country, city, office address, floor, and room from the dropdown menus. The correct floor plan loads automatically.
Drag the Red Pin
Drag the red pointer to your exact desk or workspace position on the interactive floor plan.
Click Save
Hit Save and you’re done. Your location is now visible to everyone on the team instantly.
Update Any Time
Moved desks or switched floors? Just repeat the process. It takes 30 seconds and your new location is live immediately.
